Bringing French Charm to a Kitchen

Sandra Gonzalez

Ooh, la, la! This French country-style kitchen is très chic, thanks to the bountiful talents of decorative artist Sandra Gonzalez.

Sandra, owner of A Work of Art in Fort Worth, Texas, took the kitchen from ordinary to charming with a transformation involving finishing the walls and cabinets and a custom-made island. To achieve the beautiful results, Sandra used a product that she developed and brought to market, Design 7 Seven acrylic glaze.

“The transformation of this kitchen started in small steps,” Sandra reports. “We began by hand-troweling all of the wall surfaces, priming and painting, and then adding a soft neutral single-color glaze with Design 7 Seven.”

The next step in the project was to update the pickled, white, 1990s cabinetry, taking it from a tired, outdated look to a timeless French country design.

The major focal point in this kitchen is the massive custom-made island, which Sandra made special with a unique rustic red distressed finish. The final result is something that any homeowner would love.

Says Sandra, “This completed French country kitchen is timeless, elegant and comfortably home."
